                           GFWC West Virginia President’s Special Project
                                            2012-2014
                                     Camp Kno-Koma

 

The President's Special Project for this administration is the Juvenile Diabetes Camp, Kno-Koma. This camp is just outside Lewisburg, WV and the children attend this camp one week out of the year. The cost of this camp is $275 per camper, and is for children ages 7 through 15. This year's camp is scheduled for July 15-21, 2012. Campers are taught insulin injection techniques, blood glucose monitoring, recognition and management of hypo/hyperglycemia and ketosis, carbohydrate counting, and much more. The campers enjoy activities such as tubing down the Greenbrier River, canoeing, swimming, archery, and biking. Physicians, nurses, dieticians, and other medical staff and counselors also attend the camp.
