Civic Engagement and Outreach Community Service Program
This program reminds GFWC members that we are part of a large society and we are responsible to help create a better quality of life in our communities.
FOUR AREAS OF WORK
Citizenship

Honor and celebrate patriotic holidays by hosting, participating, or volunteering for events

Present proper handling and etiquette of the flag of the United States of America

Help an individual or small group study for the citizenship test
Crime Prevention and Disaster Preparedness

Provide information on crime prevention strategies to make homes safer

Educate on identity theft and scams directed to senior citizens

Sponsor CPR and First Aid classes
The Needy, Hungry and Homeless

Collect socks – most requested clothing item at shelters

Club day of service at a food pantry

Angel gift trees – if your community does not have a Salvation Army, set up your own Angel Tree
Women Veterans and Military Personnel

Support Wreaths Across America on December 14th through donations and volunteering

Support active military through USO
-
Support NAMI (National Association of Mental Illness) that helps veterans with PTSD, Depression, and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
